Marian ZIDARU, (b. 1956, Balotesti), sculptor. In 1977 he graduated from the High School of Fine Arts, Craiova and in 1981 he graduated from the ”Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Fine Arts, Bucharest - professors Vladimir Predescu and Marin Iliescu's class. Between 1991-1995 he was junior lecturer at the department of sculpture at the National University of Arts Bucharest. In 2011 received residency for two months in Dusseldorf, Germany, in 1995 he won the ”Ionel Jianu” Award, ARA Distinction, in 1994 received ”Ludwig Forum” scholarship (Aachen, Germany) and in 1993 the ”Kulturreferat” scholarship (Munich, Germany). In 1987 he was awarded with Youth Prize offered by the Visual Artists' Union of Romania and in 1985 was awarded with 2nd Prize at the International Biennale of Drawing from Cleveland, England. In 1984 he received a scholarship from the Italian Cultural Institute and in 1982 received a scholarship for creation granted by the Visual Artists' Union of Romania. He has attended at numerous individual and group exhibitions, at symposiums, both in Romania and abroad.
